STEIL (R): “Financial security is a top priority for the people of Southeast Wisconsin. My campaign is about standing up for American workers. I’ll fight to raise wages, create more jobs, and prepare workers for the jobs that are out there. An education that is affordable and accessible to workers will enable them to find jobs with higher wages and better benefits. Families also want to earn and keep more of their hard-earned money. In Congress, I’ll always work to keep taxes low so more money stays in the pockets of Wisconsin families. My opponent wants to take more of our paychecks and give it to Washington.

“Healthcare costs are out of control and putting families’ finances in jeopardy. I’ll put patients and doctors in control of care while taking the best solutions from across the public and private healthcare programs to reduce costs. I’ll also protect Medicare and Social Security. These programs are promises we have made to generations of Americans.”

Americans (and most candidates at every level of government) favor legal immigration to the United States. How would you support & what would you do to help facilitate expedited legal immigration? What measures do you feel are necessary and appropriate to address illegal immigration?

STEIL (R): “Our current immigration system is broken and in need of reform. We need an immigration system that works for Wisconsin and America and is tied to our workforce needs. The first step in the process must be to secure the border. Then, we can focus on reforming our immigration policies so that they are positively impacting our country and economy. My opponent wants to abolish the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, which is a dangerous proposal and does nothing to solve the broken immigration system. ICE protects our communities by tracking down criminals, combating human trafficking and preventing terrorism.”

Do you support the tariffs being imposed by the current administration? Tell us your view on how you feel they are impacting Wisconsin businesses and consumers.

STEIL (R): “In Congress, I’ll stand up for American workers. I support free, fair and reciprocal trade and I’ll fight for better trade deals that put Wisconsin and America first. The president has begun negotiations and brought other countries to the bargaining table, which is an important first step. We need to get to a trade system that lowers barriers to trade, most importantly products made right here in Wisconsin like soybeans, milk and manufactured products. Given the opportunity to compete freely and fairly, workers in Southeast Wisconsin will win every time. In Southeast Wisconsin we have the best workforce not just in the United States but in the entire world. We need better trade deals that lower barriers for American workers to be able to ship our products around the world. Lowering other country’s barriers will be my top priority.”
